Bake Your Own Turkey Day 2002, a look back

November 23, 1995 - that was the last time MSTies had a proper Turkey Day. But in 2002, thanks to the efforts of those us of here at Inventing Situations, things weren't really all that different. Except that Thanksgiving, we offered fans a chance to make their own captions for stills from as many of the raw unmstied versions of the films used in MST3k as we could get access and rights to. Since we don't have the money to get rights to anything, we just offered up any public domain films as we could get our hands on.

Meanwhile, at the Glitterdome, caution was thrown to the wind as users voted for seven actual MST episodes that were captioned on Glitterrock's Cap Board during the week of Thanksgiving.

Archival footage (the shorts) supplied by the Internet Moving Images Archive (at archive.org) in association with Prelinger Archives.

Be sure to check out Daddy-O's Drive In Dirt, which was a valuable source in setting this event up.

A look at years past: 2008 2007 2006 2005 2004 2003 2002

Below is a list of the 20 features and 19 shorts we played. The shorts are still in regular rotation here, and many of the films still show up from time to time. We hope to make at least a yearly tradition of Bake Yor Own Turkey Day.

Thanks, the Management
