Bake Your Own Turkey Day 2003

2003 looks to be a bleak Thanksgiving for msties. It's shaping up to be the last Turkey Day that MST3k will be on the air. Of course, to mark this occasion, SFC will not be giving the Turkey Day marathon one last hurrah, but will instead be pre-empting MST's only showing that weekend in favor of Lord Of Illusions.

Here at Inventing Situations, we'll try to make up for this little indignity with our Second Annual Bake Your Own Turkey Day Weekend festivites. Starting at 9 PM EST, Wednesday, November 26 we'll be offering fans a chance to make their own captions for stills from as many of the films used on MST3k as we can get access and rights to. Since we don't have the money to get rights to anything, we'll just offer up the raw unmstied versions of as many of the public domain films we can get our hands on. We've got a number of films that are NEW to Inventing Situations this year and fresh screengrabs for many of the returning shorts.

Here's details on the films.

And as a special bonus, the grand finale at 7 PM, Sunday 11/30 will be a capper's choice. Just signs up for the Inventing Situations update list by sending an e-mail to inventingsituations-subscribe@lustforlunch.com before the festivities start. Then you'll be eligible to vot for one short and one feature to be shown to cap things off. Vote by sending an email to XXXXXX before Sunday 11/30/03 noon.

Meanwhile, at the Glitterdome, caution will be thrown to the wind as eight episodes of mst will be offered for captioning on the Cap Board, starting on the 24th.

In the meantime, feel free to check out what's available for capping now.

Archival footage (the shorts) supplied by the Internet Moving Images Archive (at archive.org) in association with Prelinger Archives.

Be sure to check out Daddy-O's Drive In Dirt, which is a valuable source of information on these films.

A look at years past: 2008 2007 2006 2005 2004 2003 2002

Below is a list of the features and shorts we'll be playing. The shorts always remain in regular rotation here, and many of the films still show up from time to time during the year.

Thanks, the Management
